She has very flat hair that is never cut evenly but is always in her face, dull eyes each in a different shade; one blue and the other green. Upon closer inspection to her body, one might see old scars on her legs, back and possibly arms from years of manhandling from her father and brother. The girl isn't very expressive, she keeps her head down or lower, eyes darting around and unless it's shocking, she usually looked incredibly sad but it's hard to tell unless she's frowning. She can be considered unattractive due to her thin build, dirty clothing, and generally unhappy disposition.

She is usually found wearing long, dark dresses that tend to be ratty and frayed at the bottom from wearing them for such long periods of time. It is easy to assume that while she cares for being clean, she doesn't care for what she wears or how she looks.

Friends: None
Family: Tom Marvolo Riddle, Marvolo Gaunt jr., Morfin Gaunt, Hesper Black, Sirius Black, Lycoris Black, Arcturus Black, Regulus Black
Enemies: I'd say just her brother and father.

Personality (include strengths and weaknesses):
The girl is reclusive, submissive and a push-over. She lets people push her around and has no real back bone, she's paranoid. Meryl spent alot of her life working against the grind of her father and brother, the two of them did an awful lot to hurt her. Meryl doesn't like to be grabbed, jerked, shouted at or any form of negative feedback from something she's done and this behavior makes her watch what everyone does. Meryl can't sit back and feel like she's not doing something wrong, while none of this is apparent on her face it is usually obvious that she's not happy but no one would know why. The girl is in her head all of the time, she doesn't try to tell anyone her opinion as she feels everything she says might be wrong a simple answer might come from her if inquired.

Meryl is socially awkward and comes off being very sad, often being unable to feel anything else as most of her life was majorly unhappy. The problem with this is that she's easily influenced by people's opinions, gullible and doesn't really know how to say "no". She completely lacks a backbone and she never says what's on her mind, she'd rather hide it and keep it hidden forever. Due to these complications, she is unusual and feels the need to escape from most situations, choosing to run away than to fight or fend off the problem.

This world was everyone else's and Meryl just lived in it, with no one paying her mind or thought. Meryl is painfully shy and unsociable, not to mention afraid of most people around her. She is also very clumsy, especially when near her family or people that make her nervous. She speaks so little that some people would be inclined to think her completely mute, but that is not the case. While she does seem to have alot of things that work against her, she has a lot of other things that don't.

Meryl has empathy, compassion, creativity and a form of wisdom. She was brought up having to think on her feet and is a great observer of the human body, gestures and expression. Lying to Meryl is very difficult to do because she reads the body and not the words coming from the mouth, though if one distracts her enough that is the only way to confuse her. Meryl has a great feeling for people and even though they all seem dangerous to her, she wants nothing but the best for them and if it doesn't cause her any real pain, she'll help in any way she can. Most would believe her to be stupid, but she is very simple and when she talks it's easy to understand what she means, it comes very naturally for her to give a comforting or advising word.

I'd also like to mention that while she's not particularly or severely inbred, she and her brother have Heterochromia. Heterochromia is a eye defect in which the colour of the eyes were split due to a genetic problem, it is often found in people and animals who are inbred.

History:
Morfin Gaunt and Lycoris Black getting together was nothing short of a damned miracle. The couple were arranged by Hesper Black, she tried her best to match the pair for the soul purpose of bringing the Gaunts back into the social circle. The two were very particular and Morfin was often abrasive and unkind to Lycoris, but she was a strong person and was more than able to handle Morfin's sociopathism for the sake of the family. However, the problem lied within the mind of Sirius Black as he didn't want to send his only daughter off with those vicious, nasty, filthy Gaunts. Marvolo and Sirius argued often, more often than what was normal amongst parents, the only reason they weren't at each other's throat was because of Hesper to begin with. Marvolo wasn't fond of both his children breeding with Blacks(Merope/Arcturus, Morfin/Lycoris) because he felt that their blood wasn't as pure as his.

The two of them fought so hardly that Hesper couldn't get Sirius or Marvolo to settle themselves, Sirius ended both arrangements and closed himself off to the Gaunts. Morfin and Merope were told that they were going to half to marry each other by Marvolo, he was angry and wanted to continue the line. Morfin honestly didn't want to breed with his sister but he had no choice, he was an awful young man and frequently touched her without her permission. It wasn't until the time where he saw Merope hanging out the window at Tom Riddle.

Morfin had to stop it. He hexed the muggle and then him and Marvolo were sent to jail for a little while, Morfin longer than his father. He spent three years in prison and came back to find his father crouched over his favourite chair, a note from Merope, a note from Marvolo and finding himself as the only heir. Morfin was almost thirty by this time and now that there were possibly no problems to arise with both Merope and Marvolo out of the picture, Hesper came back to try again and reason with Morfin. Now that he was old enough to make his choices on his own, he did just that and the two were married. Morfin refused to live in the Black House, he didn't feel right and he refused to let Lycoris live there as well.

The marriage was an awful mess and Morfin barely made any attempts to attend any Black family get-togethers, he almost refused and sent her. The two of them constantly fought and had it not been for Lycoris' assertive ways, she would have ended up as a beaten wife, their marriage soon came to an end in 1939. By that time Lycoris popped out two children one with the namesake of Morfin's father, Marvolo and the other named on something they agreed one that followed the Gaunt tradition, Meryl. The family wasn't very tight-knit, Lycoris left him and the kids after the birth of Meryl, she couldn't take the way he was acting and the kids were considered 'disowned' by the Blacks. That's the reason that Lycoris is stated as never being married or having any children.

Just like his father, Morfin forced the son, Marvolo to tend to his daughter, much like he was forced to do for his sister. Morfin, ironically, had became his father; a drunk, abusive, uncaring man who was absorbed with blood purity. The children weren't allowed to speak regular English at home and Marvolo spoke very English himself, they spent most of their time speaking Parselmouth. Meryl was often the blame of many of the problems in the house and was left by herself to self-soothe or whipped, even at a young age, by her father for things that shouldn't be blamed on a baby. Meryl's childhood was nothing short of being horrible, with her brother five years older than her, she was often left behind or was left at home. As you can tell, Morfin was not a good father and appeared to only be selfish to his son, Marvolo. The Gaunt house was filled with violence towards the children, often not reprimanding Marvolo for his behavior and being severe with the younger child.

By the time that she was four years old, she was often cooking, cleaning and forced to do all kinds of man-like labor. Meryl was finally offered a simple freedom, while her brother was off at tutoring with some witch Morfin knew, she was left at home with her father. A young man had busted into the house claiming to be is her cousin more or less, the two argued and then a quick spell knocked her father out. Meryl watched in fear and before she had the chance to say anything, she tried to revive her father and nothing happened. When he arrived, she had left the house and ran away into the nearby forest thickets, it was a good hiding place as many people would have difficulty trying to get inside of it without destroying it. Meryl stayed there for a long time, a few days even and refused to leave until the officials left the forest, eventually it was her brother that found her. Marvolo was angry because she caused a lot of trouble because the officials couldn't find her, he ended up whooping on her himself in his frustration. The two lived together and had frequent visits from Hesper, but as far as Marvolo was concerned, it was his house now and his pathetic sister was his property. The only time Hesper was allowed in the house was if something was really wrong with them, the two of them were uneducated and learned how to read and write just barely due to her coming around. Hesper had tried so hard to get the Gaunt family back into the pureblood circle that she felt it was partially her fault and now her grandchildren seemed to be suffering from it.

They barely had any money and what they did have was from Hesper giving them money to buy food. Marvolo never went shopping, he forced his sister to go and often put her in danger by doing that. Meryl hated going alone because people stared at her due to the bruises and cuts left on her by her older brother, sending a 9-10 year old to shop had always been a mistake anyways, it was a surprise that she was never kidnapped. The two lived together for a long time with small amount of help from Hesper, always in secret and had it not been for her, they would not have had wands. Finally, Marvolo moved out and stole some of the food money and nobody knew where he went, leaving Meryl alone.

Hesper stopped visiting as she assumed that Meryl was forced to go with him, so she had to scrounge around for food in the forest. That is where she is at currently, she's sixteen and living in that rut of a house.

Extras.

PB: Emily Perkins
What do you plan to do with this character?: I'd like for her to get out into the word and live a little, I'd like for her to meet Tom and confront what happened and why he did that to her father. I think the animosity between them would be splendiferous!

Samples.

Sample:
She quietly stood there, her eyes lowered a little to the ground. To be honest, she wasn't really into whatever was going on as she couldn't really say that she had companions to greet. Thus, even if she didn't, Meryl would not go to them as she wasn't invited to the party. She hardly expected someone to arrive and talk to her, she was fine just observing.

However, little did she know that she would be approached.

When a red haired man came in front of her, her inbred looking eyes of blue and green stayed against the ground and slowly up to his face. Meryl hardly ever stood straight, just like now, she was slouched and just stared at the mug in front of her. Truthfully, she had a serious lack of social skills and it took her a little while to take the mug from him. Meryl easily reached for it like a wild animal lurking towards the one who had food for her. There would be no lie, the mug felt warm in her hands and she closed her eyes for a moment as if she were going to melt from it.

"You...brought this for me? -- I..guess, I am okay." She didn't sound like she believed it herself. Noticing that he seemed to be relatively friendly, she had nothing to say and it made her feel slightly foolish. In the back of her head, she couldn't contemplate why someone had done something so nice and for NO particular reason.

She fears that he might hurt her and by that deduction, she is frightened of him even though she loves him.
Strengths; Eileen's ability to try to be independant and strong in horrible situations is uncanny. She has a understanding for those around her and watches them intently for something. She also is incredibly clever and gets her out of problems quicker than she believes. She also gets protective over her friends, which lets them know how she cares for them. She also has another ability to sense how people are feeling, while it's not direct she pays attention to body language much more than the normal person.
Weaknesses; When she gets too bombarded with things, she tends to break. Because she's too watchful of people, she assumes too much and can usually jump to wrong conclusions, she's horribly clumsy and cannot help herself. Eileen stays in her mind too much for her own good, thinking up too much and often hurting herself by doing that.

Personality;
Eileen is a clever, curious and overly paranoid young lady. She is very private in nature and incredibly difficult to read, she does not like to be touched or have much human contact. She's a quiet, sensible young woman who is cautious and prefers to keep to herself. Eileen isn't very outgoing and is likely to keep her nose in a book than to be in a crowd. She doesn't have many friends nor does she make friends easily but once your her friend Eileen is incredibly loyal. As an intelligent young woman, Eileen believes the best way to deal with any problem is to research the shit out of it.

Always the weird kid, she was unliked, mostly because of her sullen attitude, social awkwardness and inner grief. She had to find other things to busy herself like her team, homework, slug-club or books. Those in school, other than older ones, often picked at her and that is what made her usually cross or rude. After putting up with it and her lack of those around to support her, she broke under the pressure and stopped making such a fuss, often being pessimistic and never being interested in talking.
Eventually after the years the oppression and abuse, she finally stopped trying to care so much and gave up. One could describe her as a defeatist and always trying to do something to forget her problem. This was her way to escape reality, she hid from the world in her mind and ignored others that tried to talk to her that she didn't know. Eileen's entire body stops whenever this happens, she can't do anything else but block out what is happening, which is often frustrating as she spends too much time backtracking her mind to something she didn't like and finding herself frozen in space.

While people believe it or not, she is extremely sensitive to what people say but refuses to let others know. However, those that know body language can tell that she has a problem from how defensive she portrays herself.

Her personality changed a bit when she left school, it couldn't be helped.

When she found out she was betrothed, she became a little more pessimistic and unhappy. Some might even call her pessimistic attitude as slightly sarcastic when it became too much for her. Eileen disliked the idea of marriages as it only seemed to cause more havoc than was needed and she didn't want a life of arguments and neglecting her own child. The mention of being married being a scowl to her face and if she were ever to be married, she wouldn't wear rings until she felt comfortable.

She likes to read, write poetry and play games that don't involve others. Eileen is also a fan of Quidditch and the boys that plays but she would never, ever admit that in a million years. Eileen likes to go for walks and tends to read at the same time, which is a little reckless but she doesn't care. This also causes alot of her small injuries from her tripping or falling whenever she isn't looking or just because her body has no coordination, some might see her as a damsel in distress but she really is alright. She doesn't need any kind of saving, although it would be nice for someone to be around whenever she trips over something.

  History;
Eileen Prince, born to Ruth and Ryan Prince, was born in 1933. She was born to a pureblood family, the family was not affectionate but they were good people. They appreciated others and themselves, but were all independent, even as children. The family left Eileen to her devices pretty much, but it wasn't like she was a bad child, she was extraordinarily quiet. The two of them were particularly hard on her as a child, trying to force her into doing things that she really didn't like. These tasks and things often included socializing with other pureblooded families and most the boys of those families. Eileen often found herself the joke because of how she looked, she was very small, pale with black hair and was often noted as a banshee. She hated being called that and it would never outgrow her, even after she turned into an adult.

The relationship with her parents were rocky and never good. Her parents always fought in front of her, but never behind closed doors. While she was never abused or hurt, she did feel emotional and mental neglect as a child. She grew relationships only with parents instead of the children because they picked on her so frequently. She was lucky to finally be taken in and taught the "do's" and "don'ts" of etiquette, her parents seemed to only show interest to selling her off to one of the other families. It was actually the Lestrange's mother that did this, she found Eileen to be as beautiful as an antique doll and wanted to experiment with her a little. Eventually, Eileen found herself more attached to her than her own mother, but she never mentioned it.

Once her parents grew wind of the tutoring sessions, they refused to let Eileen go over there out of jealousy. The rest of her childhood was a blur of being poked at by other kids her age or being yelled at for various things that were not important. She eventually stopped coming over and if she was forced to, she hid in places where she couldn't be found or poked at anymore. Eileen grew bored and unsocial, she eventually found Gobstones as a way to pass the time. The game was a great for her because she didn't feel pressured and could play by herself if she wanted to. Other than books, Gobstones and hiding in pureblood houses, she did nothing else at all.

When she was old enough to attend school, she had already been a "pro" at Gobstones and quickly took to the team. Eileen also found that she did extreme well in potions, even being so lucky as to be apart of Slughorn's slug-club, she met various others in the Slug-Club meetings. Tom Riddle and various others were there, but he stuck out the most. While it was unsure how he felt about her, Eileen never heard him make fun of her or make her feel bad. School had been awful for her and she found herself frequently protected by the older students in other years that thought name-calling and poking at her was wrong.

Even being in Slytherin didn't save her and she frequently sought to her Gobstones team for comfort, which didn't offer much. When the end of her years came, she decided to go to London to pursue a job tutoring adults who played Gobstones for professional teams. Yes, she was that good.

After school, she found out that she was betrothed to the Lestrange son and avoided marrying him or being around him. The two didn't appear to get along at all and she left home for good, following suit with her dream of becoming a Gobstones teacher, rather than professional player. The idea of being in crowds was never appealing to her anyways.

In 1955, Eileen began working at a job that tutored young people, adults and some professionals play the game. This was very successful for her, she made alot of money but hadn't really put any of it towards anything other than her small flat. Eileen is frequently visited by those from school that she knew on her Gobstones team in hopes that she'll try to become more professional instead of just teaching. She spent all her time doing this and thus why she hasn't met Tobias yet.

While she seemed to be happy to do what she was doing, a part of her felt rather alone. A lot of her other friends were already married or currently betrothed, she felt a little sad that she couldn't share it with someone else. However, she wouldn't think on it too much because she had so much else going on in her life.

The job landed her the accidental and chance meeting of Tobias Snape, an attractive muggle. Eileen was smitten from the beginning and while they worked away from each other, they often met in London and started dating, shortly were married out of impulse. That was their downhill slope.

The couple bought a house in Spinner's End and Eileen finally explained herself to him, that didn't really sit well with Tobias. They were rocky after that and then were more or less decent, it wasn't until Severus' birth that the real problems started happening. Tobias was drinking and Eileen hated it, but didn't reprimand him too much because she didn't think it was a big deal. It became a big deal when money started getting tight and there was nobody to watch her child. Eileen was a blood traitor to her parents and none of them would even hold their grandchild.

Tobias couldn't quit his job, Eileen stopped working to take care of Severus which mad money even tighter. The stress caused alot of fighting and unhappiness in the home, making the grim, dark home a horrible place to be. Tobias started harping on Eileen and when Severus was old enough him too, the two of them suffered neglect and abuse whenever Tobias was plastered. Eileen often made Severus uncomfortable and tried her best to do what she could until he was alright with doing everything himself.

Eileen became so involved in her own misery that she frequently had no time to be with her son, often attempting to protect him but sometimes making the situation worse for the both of them. The only time where their relationship wasn't as strained or as bad was when Severus was gone, she often blamed herself and Severus for their marriage problems.

By the time he was out of the house, Eileen and Tobias were normal for some time before he went on his drinking binges. Tobias made her life miserable and they rarely talked any more unless it was important, they stopped sleeping in the same room even. Soon after in 1980, Tobias died and Eileen found him after coming home from getting groceries; he died from alcohol poisoning. When he was buried, Eileen's life was never the same and she didn't want to be involved with her house, her home or Severus as he looked similar to his father and it broke her heart to know how much of a bad mother she was to him. Eileen ended up leaving her house and returning to the Prince estate, while they were angry with her they allowed her some amount of money and she moved away.

Whenever Severus could come back home, he was given the deed, a note with an apology and that was it. He'd never hear from her again after that.

Eileen left England and moved to Scotland, living the rest of her days in a holed up flat until she died in two--thousand.

Anything else?;
  Examples; Journal Entry:
Tobias? Are you still mad because of the paper? There was nothing I could do, this woman just ran up to me. She kept asking me if I thought of a long lost lover. You know I never had another.

Anyroad, I'm glad that an old friend from school has shown himself. While we weren't exactly chums, he is someone that I knew. I was wondering if any of my other mates from Slytherin are about?

Druella, Cygnus, Lestrange?

Anyone from my team?

Third person RP.:
Eileen frowned at her book, she didn't like reading about animals that have been extinct and would be in a few more years. Using her left hand, she closed the book and settled it back inside of its shelf. Turning away, she hopped down the steps a little until she saw something out of the corner of her eyes. Eileen lowered her head, almost refusing to look because she was afraid of disappointment on a heavy level.

You'll regret it, Eileen. Her conscious said.

Lifting her head, she directed it in Severus' direction but didn't recognize him off the bat. Eileen had saw the black hair, lanky body and nose and thought it was Tobias. Her heart pounded so loudly in her chest that she knew he would be able to hear it, if he were any closer.

Time for the approach.

Quickly, she walked down the hall and went right to him. Tobias would have expected her to embrace and stroke his ego as soon as she found him, thus she would do it. Her arms went around him and tugged him closer,"Oh, I'm sorry, Tobias...I'm sorry..what the paper said wasn't true..." She mumbled.
